Republish our work
Northern Journal is reader-powered. We earn money from individual subscribers who buy a monthly or yearly voluntary subscription; our stories are then available to be republished for free by other news outlets.
Here are our terms for republication:
- Stories posted on Northern Journal are republishable with permission. Email nat[at]northernjournal[dot]com with your request.
- Based on an agreement with us, the Alaska Beacon reposts most of our stories under a Creative Commons license. Once the Beacon posts anything from Northern Journal, you can republish it without seeking any permission. The Beacon usually picks up my stories within 24 hours of their publication.
- Photos are also republishable, with credit, but only accompanying Northern Journal stories; they may not be republished with non-Northern Journal bylined stories.
In either case, we ask outlets that republish my stories to use “Author name/Northern Journal” as our byline, and to include a tag at the bottom of the post that includes a link to subscribe at northernjournal.com, such as: This piece was originally published in Northern Journal, a newsletter and news website. Subscribe here.
We also ask, nicely, that outlets that republish our work purchase an annual paid membership, but this is not a requirement.
