Republish my work

Northern Journal is reader-powered. I earn money from individuals subscribers who buy a monthly or yearly voluntary subscription; my stories are then available to be republished for free by other news outlets.

Here are my terms for republication:

  1. Stories posted on my site are republishable with permission. Email nat[at]northernjournal[dot]com with your request.
  2. Based on an agreement with me, the Alaska Beacon reposts most of my stories under a Creative Commons license. Once the Beacon posts anything from Northern Journal, you can republish it without seeking any permission. The Beacon usually picks up my stories within 24 hours of their publication.

In either case, I ask outlets that republish my stories to use “Nathaniel Herz/Northern Journal” as my byline, and to include a tag at the bottom of the post that includes a link to subscribe at northernjournal.com, such as: This piece was originally published in Northern Journal, a newsletter and news website. Subscribe here.

I also ask, nicely, that outlets that republish my work purchase an annual paid membership, but this is not a requirement.
